What is WMS access and how does it work in GIS software?

WMS (Web Map Service) is an OGC standard that lets GIS software display map imagery from a remote server in real time. You add a WMS connection URL to QGIS or ArcGIS, point it at DigiGeoData, and geological layers appear directly on your map — no file to download, no data to manage locally. The data is streamed as rendered images as you pan and zoom.

What is the difference between Visual Access and Professional Data Access?

Visual Access (WMS) lets you view geological layers on your map in real time. You see the data, you can use it for exploration and field review, but you do not extract the underlying features or attributes.

Professional Data Access (WMS + WFS) adds WFS access, which allows direct feature-level queries — you can download attributes, filter by geometry, and integrate the raw data into your analysis pipelines. This is designed for advanced GIS workflows in mining, resource management, and geospatial analysis.

What data is included in the trial?

The trial gives you WMS access to a representative sample of DigiGeoData's Canadian geological data — including mineral claims and geological survey layers. It is designed to let you evaluate data quality, GIS integration, and coverage depth before choosing a plan. The trial runs for 10 days, supports 1 user account, and requires no credit card.

Why is WFS access more controlled than WMS?

WFS grants direct access to the underlying feature data — not just the rendered map image. Because this allows programmatic extraction of geometries and attributes at scale, DigiGeoData handles WFS access through a more deliberate onboarding process to ensure appropriate use and data governance. This is not a technical barrier — it is a deliberate control measure that protects data integrity for all users.

Can I connect from QGIS? From ArcGIS?

Yes. DigiGeoData uses standard OGC protocols (WMS and WFS), which are natively supported by QGIS, ArcGIS Pro, ArcMap, and any other OGC-compatible GIS client. You add a WMS or WFS connection, enter your DigiGeoData URL and credentials, and the layers appear in your software's layer panel.

What does "annual plans available" mean?

All paid plans are available on a monthly or annual billing cycle. Annual plans offer a lower effective monthly rate. The billing option is presented during onboarding when you choose your plan.

How do I get pricing information?
